My approach…

Learn your theories as well as you can, but put them aside when you touch the miracle of the living soul
— Carl Jung

I work in a warm, collaborative and flexible way, grounded in a belief that counselling should be centred around your needs.

My intention is to offer a space that feels safe and supportive for you. A space where we can listen carefully together - with curiosity and compassion, to whatever is present for you.

It is a profound and continued privilege for me to sit with my clients. Many of whom are navigating difficulties life can throw up, including:

  • Trauma

  • Addiction

  • Shame

  • Loss

  • Abuse

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Stress

  • Relationship problems

No matter what is with you, or your reasons for looking for support - it would be an honour to open the conversation with you, about what you might want or need from counselling.

Whenever you feel ready, I am here too.

* disclaimer

I try to avoid counselling jargon wherever possible, but if you would like to know more detail about my theoretical approaches, philosophy or the ways I practice, please feel free to get in touch and ask any questions you may have. I’ll be happy to share more.

To offer just a little more info for those who are curious:

I work integratively, meaning I blend different theories and approaches to suit the needs of each individual client.

In session, this may mean a range of things including:

  • Looking into past experiences - how they shaped you, and affect you now

  • Working creatively, in any form that allows expression

  • A focus on the body and how things feel in the here-and-now.

  • Reflecting on what’s happening in the relationship between us in the counselling room, and how it may have parallels or echoes with other relationships in the outside world

  • Looking at pattens that seem to re-occur or perhaps give a feeling of being stuck.

  • Exploring material from your unconscious mind, perhaps through metaphor, storytelling, archetypal cards or dreams

  • Using mindfulness techniques to create a sense of physical and emotional safety within the mind/body

No matter how we work, we would only ever use methods or approaches that feel right for you.
